# ID: I574634665

# Name: DENSON CROW

# Given Name: DENSON

# Surname: CROW

# Sex: M

# Birth: 11 MAY 1806 in ,, GEORGIA, USA

# Death: 12 MAY 1872 in NEWSITE, TALLAPOOSA ,ALABAMA, USA

# Note:

Occupation: Preacher

Burial: Old Harmony Church Cemetery, Tallapoosa, County, Alabama

Note: Information from Bert Cantrell. Family is on the 1850 census for New Site, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. The census indicates the entire family were born in Georgia but does not show Parmelia who reportedly was born in 1849. Denson’s name is misspelled (Dincent) and his age is incorrectly shown as 25 (he was 45 at the time). The census was taken on December 27, 1850. The family Bible shows he was born on the 14th but his headstone shows the 11th, per Doug Whaley . The 1860 New Site census index shows him as Denson Crose but an examination of the actual census shows the name spelled Ceowe. He and Emily appear with five children: Martha 22; Eliza 20; Jane 17; Sarah 15; Stephen 13; and Boland 10. The 1870 census finds him again in Tallapoosa County with wife and two children: Isaac and Nancy.

About 22 miles southeast of Birmingham

A GoforthThrough the Window, Calcis, Alabama

A small community presumably named after the limestone quarried nearby. This stone was used in construction of the Logan Martin Dam. The abandoned Justice store stands at the crossroads. Next door, an old house with gingerbread decoration is being restored.
