Hot day

7 July 2010
One very hot day.
Dave and I delivered groceries to Mom; then headed back home.
Stopped at a few thrift/antique stores along the way.
Since getting in the AC, and starting to cool off, have been reading messages, and adding/correcting more items on my websites (someone set in havoc by my previous computer dying); as well as blogs, and misc. stuff.
Need to get things sorted out with this new laptop, get it behaving the way I want it; so I will be able to create a backup set of RECOVERY disks — then get Dave to set it for dual-boot (Windows 7 and Linux).
My head is pounding, so I won’t do much more for now.
How has your week been?
Would love to hear from my readers.
— Cathy

Taken from the Talladega Co. Heritage Book, p. 138-139, written by Linda Justice Simpson, 5407 Golden Pond Ave., Northport, AL 35473.

Isaac Clay Justice was born in Talladega Co., AL 1 April 1874 to Warren Alonzo and Sarah Meadows Justice. In 1894, he married Destie Mona Hayne, daughter of John Nicholas and Martha Hayne. Isaac Clay worked on a farm or at a sawmill until 1900 when he started working for the Central of Georgia Railroad. They lived at Zuber, a railroad crossing about one mile below Bon Air. They had five children, Pernia, Herbert, Grace, Johnny and Aubrey. They moved to Cresswell in 1901 and to Calcis in June 1902, where he worked as a section foreman until 1905 when he took over a new railroad job.

Destie Justice died 30 May 1906, and the five children lived with the Justice grandparents for about a year. In 1907, Isaac Clay married Lillie Fulmer and the following week they rode the train to Bon Air and were met by his parents and his five children. Each child brought a present for “Mama Lillie.”

Isaac resumed his job of section foreman for the railroad in Calcis, and worked at that job until December 1908 when he quit the railroad. He farmed, cut timber and hauled logs and various other jobs until 1919 when he, W.L. Garrett, and C.S. Darling opened a general store in Calcis, which was still in operation when he died in 1934. Isaac Clay and Lillie had three children: Mereiam, Evelyn and Gertrude.
